What to know

Eligibility requires no prior Liberty Hill deferral, a request before the appearance date, a guilty or no contest plea with jury trial waiver, a valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and age 25 or older or an approved driving safety course. [1]

Ineligibility includes a commercial driver's license, a deferral in any court within the past 12 months, failure to appear or an arrest warrant, a collision arising from the charged offense, and more than two traffic convictions in three years. [1]

A special expense fee equal to the maximum fine plus court costs is required at the time of the request. [1]

A separate mail-in request form asks for a guilty or no contest plea, a jury trial waiver and a 90-day deferment; the judgment is removed upon completion of probation requirements. [2]
