Liberty Hill ISD Returning to Five-Day School Week for 2026-27

Liberty Hill ISD was returning to a five-day school week for 2026-27 after a year when students were on campus four days most weeks, Superintendent Travis Motal told KXAN ahead of the school year. Motal said the four-day calendar, created mainly because of budget cuts, helped staff and students, but a traditional calendar would support the district long-term.

What to know

Ahead of 2026-27, LHISD was returning to the traditional five-day week after one year under the experimental schedule, KXAN reported Aug. 17. [1]

Under the four-day calendar, teachers had an extra day to grade and plan ahead. [1]

Motal said staff and students benefited, but he thought a traditional base calendar would support the district long-term. [1]

Motal said the district finished the prior year around 10,500 students and projected about 11,000 for fall 2026. [1]
